What is thermography

Thermography is the study of heat using images. Temperature of a surface can be determined from its infrared emissions. These emissions are capture by the camera to detect anomalies that are usually invisible to the naked eye. Thermal imaging allows corrective action to be taken before costly system failures occur. Thermography testing is non-intrusive and non-destructive test method that may be used to detect poor connections, unbalanced loads, deteriorated insulation, or other potential problems in energized electrical components. These problems may lead to excess power use, increased maintenance costs, or catastrophic equipment failure resulting in unscheduled service interruptions, equipment damage, or other problems. Inspections are carried out under normal loads and operating conditions.
